Pallets and Wood Recycling

Pallets are an obvious line that should be kept separate from your general waste. The cost of using Prima to dispose of your pallets will save you around 70% of your general waste costs.

There are two “grades” of wood that we collect:

“Clean Wood” are pallets that contain no chipboard. This wood is generally chipped and recycled into chipboard manufacture, but is also used for producing animal bedding and mulches.

“Dirty Wood” are pallets that contain both chipboard sheets as well as wood. This waste is normally used for biomass fuel.

More hazardous waste such as railway sleepers cannot be shredded.

Around 2.8mt (or 60%) of all wood waste generated in the UK is today recycled.
